How to set up email forwarding in cPanel

Introduction

If you want to automatically forward an email sent to an existing email account to one or more other email accounts, you must use email forwarding. To set up email forwarding, you usually need to learn about your inbox server settings and configure it properly. To do this, you need a basic understanding of how the email service works and, of course, system knowledge of how to configure the service. But not everyone wants to learn that much to create a simple forwarder. With the cPanel Hosting by ORC Webhosting you get an easy-to-use tool that allows you to reach any email forwarding destination with just a few clicks. In the following lines of this tutorial we will discuss the cPanel "Email Forwarding" feature.

Access to the Forwarders function in cPanel

The cPanel service is the main control of your ORC web hosting account. It allows you to use the full potential of the service with minimal web hosting knowledge. Before you can proceed with accessing the redirect feature, you need to access the cPanel service first.

After logging into the cPanel service, you need to look for the "Forwarding" function. This is located right in the first group under Email.

Create a new forwarding

Let's start with the creation of a new email forwarder. To do this, you need to understand a simple concept. With cPanel you can create two types of email forwarders:

Forward single address - A single forwarding that applies to a single email account.

Domain forwarding - This forwarding will forward all incoming emails sent to non-existing email accounts for a domain name to the default email address associated with another domain name.
When you create a forwarder, you need to select the type and click the corresponding button.

The default page for your email forwarding is relatively simple in design. At the top of the page you will find the "Create email account forwarding" section with two buttons related to the type of forwarding you want to create.

This action will redirect you to a new page named "Add new forwarding" each time, and there you will need to configure the following settings for your new email forwarding:

Forwarding address - Here you need to enter the email account, FROM to which the emails will be forwarded. Please note that this must be an existing email account that you have previously created in the cPanel function "eMail accounts" have created. Also, in this field you need to enter only the email account without "@" sign and the domain name.

Domain - In this field you need to select the domain name associated with the email account filled in above.

Destination - Here you need to configure where or where not to forward your email. Let's see the available options:

Forward to e-mail address - This option allows you to specify a single email address to which your emails will be forwarded. Please note that this email address may be hosted elsewhere or associated with a domain that is not part of your cPanel account with us. However, we strongly recommend keeping the email forwarding at the level of your hosting account, which means that the emails should be forwarded to another email account created in your hosting account with us.

Discard and send error to sender (at SMTP time). - You can also specify that any email sent to the configured address is discarded without being forwarded anywhere. When discarding, you can also configure a message to be sent to the sender in response to why the message was discarded.

Forward to a system account - Under the "Advanced options" link you will find a few more options. The first one is to forward the message to the system email account for your web hosting account. Please note that every created web hosting account automatically has a system email account, which is the username used for the web hosting account. This email account is used for internal messaging purposes only and cannot be accessed from outside your web hosting account.

Create a new domain forwarding

As mentioned above, the Domain Forwarder is used when you need to forward all incoming emails for a domain. However, this only applies if the emails are sent to non-existing email accounts will be sent. In other words, whether you have configured domain forwarding or not, if an email is sent to an existing email account or autoresponder, it will be delivered correctly.

To set up such a forwarding, please click on Add domain forwarding.
