How do I transfer files with FileZilla FTP Client?
Introduction
In this tutorial we will show you how to upload and download files using the FTP client FileZilla. The Transfer files to and from your hosting account with FileZilla is as simple as dragging and dropping it into the desired folder. Get started right now and see for yourself how easy it is.
Before we explain how to upload files, we would like to give one more hint: We assume that you have already installed the FileZilla client on your local computer and successfully connected to your web hosting account.
If you haven't already, please read our instructions to learn how to connect to FileZilla's FTP client: How do I connect with FileZilla?
As soon as the connection is established, two windows will appear: the left one will show the files and directories on your local computer, the right one will show the files and directories on the remote server (i.e. your hosting account).

If your screen looks like the one pictured above, you've come to the right place. Now we can get started.
Upload files
To upload a specific file or folder, you'll first have to navigate between your local folders in the left pane and find the files/folders you want. After that, in the right pane you'll have to select the directory where you want to upload the files to your hosting account.

If you want to upload multiple files or folders, you can select them by holding down the "ctrl" key (PC) or the "command" key (Mac) on your keyboard and clicking on them. Once you have selected the files you want to upload, right-click on them and select the "Upload" option. You can also simply drag and drop the files into the desired remote directory.
Please note that the duration of the transfer process depends on the size of the files and therefore may take some time.
If the transfer was successful, the file(s) are displayed in the right column. For more information, click the Successful Transfers tab.

As mentioned above, the process is really simple and intuitive. We hope that you will be able to cope with it.
Download files
As you have probably already guessed, the process of downloading files/folders from your hosting account to your local computer is essentially the same as the process of uploading them. However, this time you have to go the other way around. You need to find the web files/folders by navigating through the directories in the right pane. Once you find them, right-click and select the "Download" option. Also, make sure that you are in the directory in the left pane where you want to download the file(s) or folder(s).

Similar to the previous example, you will see the file(s)/folder(s) in the left pane if the download was successful, and this will also be noted on the "Successful Transfers" tab.
That's it! You should now be able to quickly transfer files from your local computer to your hosting account and vice versa. We hope that you have found our instructions useful and easy to understand. If you received any error messages, please contact your Support Team.
